It wasn’t Corey’s birthday but Dillion’s 16th but he got most of the presents(Fish that is) . Everyone hooked into some nice 5 to 8#Reds and a few trout and flounder to boot. They wanted to have their rods bent good so we chased reds most of the day and a lot of trash talk about who caught the Biggest and Most, but everyone caught fish although Corey was the King today!

Tuesday March 10,2009 Was the full Moon. The water temp was 72* warm enough for Big Specks to spawn so I headed to one of my favorite spawning areas. Using a purple topwater I caught a 2# fish on my second cast. Then three casts later I felt a welcome tug on the rod and the battle was on. The fish stayed down and I thought maybe a redfish had taken the bait but after several drag pulling runs on my 14# test Fireline I saw a nice Tout show herself. My usual net was far too small and I had to gab my monster net I keep onboard for just such occasions.  I was all alone so it was up to me to slide her into the net. Once I had her in the boat I took a deep breath and breathed a sigh of relief. It was a nice fish , 7# 7ozs and after I weighed her I took some quick Pics and let her go to get bigger. I was alone so the Pic is no cover shot but still a nice memory of my biggest trout so far.

February 22, 2009 Mark B from Atlanta Ga. & his brother & friend Visit Big Lake. The winds were 25 MPH+ and the fish were scattered but we still managed a 4# 8 oz Trout and several 2’s & some nice Reds all on Gulp. One guest threw finger mullet most of the day with no luck. It’s a challange to put fish in the boat but the fish that are biting are good size fish!

February 21, 2009 B.J. & Friends Catch a Nice Cooler of Calcasieu Trout & Reds! Gulp Shad worked best today on the bottom. The water was muddy & low and strong winds made catching fish a challange but these guys were up to it.
