I spent the last few days cleaning the yard of tree branches but fortunately I am 15 miles north of the lake and had no Damage. Hackberry & Cameron and other small communities around the lake were not as lucky . Between the stresses of the storm and the financial markets Lake Calcasieu offers us a wonderful place to escape for a day or two and enjoy time with our friends and families. To try and give something back to the area that gives us something special I am donating $ 50. of every trip that I book throught the end of the year to Hurricane Ike Relief.

Saturday Sept, 06,2008 Joann (My Better Half ) Joins me for a case of Trout Fever on Lake Calcasieu. The cure is to catch a limit of nice Big Lake Silver Beauties. Live Shrimp is always her bait of choice. And the fish were very cooperative. The Storms are always a pain but they push the bait and the fish into Calcasieu and the fishing doesn’t get any better!!!!

August 14,2008 Dan W. on his second trip to Big Lake with Captain This Year brought his friend Joel from Houston to fill the cooler with Nice Trout all on Gulp Shrimp on a 3/8 oz jig in deeper water. It took some work on the Captains part to get on the fish. At about 10 am we only had 2 keepers but we finally hit the motherload and had 35 in the boat at 2:30 pm when we had to leave them biting.
