April 11, 2010 Fred E., Brother Terry(In from Colorado) and fishmate John Catch some Nice Calcasieu Trout!!

April 11, 2010 Fred E., Brother Terry(In from Colorado) and fishmate John Catch some Nice Calcasieu Trout!! We started the day in the Big Lake Marsh catching a few Flounder and Reds, when a call from a friend said the birds were working on the eastbank of Lake Calcasieu so we headed east.  The birds were working but the fish were small and after several tries and no keepers we headed South to find fishier pastures. The southbank was well covered with boats who had also heard the fish were there but we managed to keep our distance and still put some good trout in the cooler. We then decided to head back to the marsh and leave the crowd and it worked well . We put a few more Nice Trout and Redfish in the cooler and Finish the day with two Slams(Trout,Redfish & Flounder!) Gulp Swimming Mullet under a Cork was the bait of the day!!!FredE4-11-2010

April 08, 2010 Great Catch, Terrible Weather!!!!!!

April 08, 2010 Great Catch, Terrible Weather!!!!!!     Winds of 25 to 30 Mph,  out of the North and Low Low water!!!! When I arrived at the dock I seriously considered heading back to the house, But I love a good challange and gave it a go. As I was heading up the Intercoastal I saw a lot of dirt where water should be but had my fish Radar working and saw something roll and bait go flying! A cast later of Chartruse Gulp Swimming Mullet a nice Flounder was in the cooler. A few more casts and a nice red hit the ice. I saw a few finger mullet running for their lives and changed to a broken back Paul Brown Corky and caught 4 nice reds on 4 casts in a row. I picked up the Gulp and again a second nice flounder was mine!  It quieted down a bit so I eased down the bank throwing the corky and Wham a 5 1/2 lb Trout hit it and gave me a real battle. After a few Pics she was back in the water to grow even bigger. At about noon I headed to the house feeling like I had conquered the weatherman!!!!! Never Say Die!!!!!!!!!!!!Trout4-08-2010Redlimit4-8-2010
