February 20, 2010 Lake Calcasieu Starting to Thaw!!! Today was a beautiful day to be on Big Lake. The weather was a little breezy but spring like, and the fish are getting hungry. Gulp Swimming Mullet under a cork in shallow water was the key to a nice cooler of Reds and a nice 2# Trout caught by Steve B. ,A Lake Calcasue Guide who joined me today for some spring scouting. As the weather improves so should the Speckeled Trout and Red Fishing. I have several openings after March 8th. Please come visit me at the Houston Fishing Show at George Brown Convention March 3 to 8, booth 442, and lets plan a great spring trip!!!

February 19, 2010 Lake Calcasieu Starting to Warm Up!     I haven’t been on the water in about 3 weeks. It’s been cold and windy so even a Big Lake fishing guide needs a vacation. We returned Wednesday and the weather report looked pretty good so Joann and I gave it a try. We caught about 20 nice 3 to 5# Reds and about a dozen Black drum on Gulp and Corkies. Lake Calcasieu was still pretty muddy, you have to search to find some good clean water and the temp was 47* to 52*.  The Houston Fishing Show is March 3 to 8 at the Brown Convention Center,Booth # 442. Come visit my booth and we’ll Talk Lake Calcasieu Speckeled Trout and Redfishing. Things should be ready to heat up on Big Lake by then.

January 28, 2010 Bill, ( Flew in from Colorado) to join his fishing buddies from Shreveport and wanted to experience Louisiana’s Premier Redfishing and chose Lake Calcasieu as the place to do it. Boy did they do it!!!!! After a little moving to find clean water and a good moving tide it was on. Berkley Gulp Pearl White Swimming Mullet loaded the boat for about 3 hours of steady action cathing 2 to 8 pound Reds. These guys said the New 24′ Nautic Star made the choppy waters a pleasant ride and a great fishing experience! Today they are headed home to tell stories of the great Redfishing on Lake Calcasieu with Fishing Tom Guide Service and to enjoy some Blackened Redfish Filets. It doesn’t get any better for the Fishing,
or for a Big Lake fishing guide. Great Job Guys!!!!!!

January 27,2010, Big Trout caught by Wading Lake Calcasieu!!! It takes patients and work to spend the day wading through the mud & muck but thats exactly where the big trout spend the winter on Big Lake. Capt. Bruce B. and I put the waders on at 6:30 AM and took them off at 6:00 PM and threw Corkies over the shallow reefs and shorelines of Lake Calcasieu and were rewarded with some nice trout for our effort. If you’d like to try catching a wallhanger? Now untill May is the time to get out the boat and Fish with you feet as well as you hands and you may be rewarded with some Big Lake Beauties!!!!!!!
